Christian group cautions Kaduna voters against sentiment in guber polls

Voters in Kaduna State have been urged not to allow religious sentiment to affect their determination to vote for credible and purposeful leadership in the March 11, governorship and House of Assembly elections.

This is just as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) accused the All Progressive Congress (APC) of using religion to sway voters in worship places.

Also, the General Overseer of the Throneroom Trust Ministry, Kafanchan, Nuru Kure, deplored the information on the social media of the move to use religion and other sentiments to influence the governorship election in the state.

Kure’s spokesman, Jonas Ambisa, stated, yesterday: “The public should note that the said meeting and oath-taking by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and others on Throneroom grounds as stated in that piece, only exist in the figment of the imagination of the writer and should be disregarded as false. The CAN office can be contacted for clarification.

“Let both Muslims, Christians and all Nigerians within and outside focus on the prayer/praise for the resolution of all outstanding matters as was predetermined by God for Nigeria from the beginning of time.”

Meanwhile, the APC and PDP in Kaduna are trading words over the Muslim/Muslim ticket adopted by the APC.

In a petition to security agencies in Kaduna, the PDP alleged plans to discredit its governorship candidate, Isah Ashiru, by propagating the Muslim/Muslim ticket agenda during the Friday prayers across the state.

The party warned against protests by its members, which could lead to violence, such as what happened during Juma’at prayers in Katsina last week.

NEW Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Kaduna, Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi, has said the realignment among the opposition political parties is enough and possible to defeat APC in Kaduna in next Saturday’s election.

He urged Kaduna people to brace up and end the “draconian government” of the APC and instal a good leadership to rebuild the state.

Hunkuyi, however, called on the people to be mindful of the danger of money politics and actions that will result in political miscarriage.

Speaking to newsmen, yesterday, the NNPP candidate expressed gratitude to the electorate, advising them not to fall into temptation of money politics to return APC to power.

“It is out of sincerity that I am contesting the governorship election in Kaduna to address several abnormalities in the state. It is because of these abnormalities and pains of the people that I refused to retire from politics since 2019. I hope we will win the election and address all these challenges,” Hunkuyi said.

He promised to provide free education from primary to secondary, reduce tuition fees of state-owned tertiary institutions, restore sacked teachers and disengaged traditional rulers and prioritise security among others.
