Commissioner urges police officers to shun corruption, loans
The Commissioner of Police in Jigawa, Mr Ahmadu Abdullahi, has warned new police constables in the state to shun corrupt practices and collection of unnecessary loans.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the Police Spokesperson in the state, SP Lawan Shiisu, in Dutse on Tuesday.
Shiisu said that the police commissioner gave the warning while receiving the 448 new police constables at the police command headquarters in Dutse.
The police commissioner said that the new police constables, totalling 448, were received from the Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters, Abuja, after undergoing a six-month rigorous training at Police College, Kaduna.
He warned them to be disciplined and follow the Nigeria Police Act and Regulations as well as other federal laws.
Abdullahi also urged them to carry out their duties with integrity, honesty, professionalism and respect for human rights.
He advised them to avoid all forms of unnecessary loans and shun corrupt practices and bribes.
The police chief directed the Department of Operations and Mobile Base to immediately train the new officers on practical police duty, weapons handling, musketry and combat operations.
This, he said, was in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) before the posting of the personnel to various divisions across the state.
