Leader of Tijjaniyya Muslim sect in Nigeria, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi is leading thousands of ‘Sufi’ movement and several nominal Muslims to the 2025 National Maolud event held at Sani Abacha stadium, Kano.

The annual celebration of the birth of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammed (peace be unto him), draws prominent attendees, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who is being represented, Ministers, members of the National Assembly, and captain of industries, diplomats and other personalities.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, along with his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, led members of the state cabinet and top government functionaries to the special occasion to seek peace and development of Kano and the nation.

Contrary to the security threat alarm issued by police command in the state, insinuating possible attack by terrorist, the event presently hosted a massive crowd that filled the 16,000-seat capacity and dominated all spaces on the pitch and track in a peaceful atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the police command had bowed to pressure withdrawing its earlier barricade of the venue for the national event. Instead, the command reinstatement readiness to provide all necessary security measures to ensure the event was conducted in a peaceful manner devoid of any hitch.

Earlier, the Kano State Government refuted any cause for fear ahead of the Tijjaniyya Maolud and urged visitors and residents to disregard any security alarm.

Commissioner for Information, Abdullahi Waiye insisted the annual occasion scheduled for Kano would be held without any hindrance, and maintained that the government need no permission to use its own facility designated to accommodate mass visits.
