Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has expressed his determination to support the cultivation of every piece of arable land in the state as part of his administration’s vision for agriculture and wealth creation.
He lamented that the state possesses vast land that is rich and suitable for agriculture but remains grossly underutilised.
Governor Sule shared his vision with Mr. Chen Qiang during an over five-hour fast train ride from China’s densely populated Henan Province to the mineral-rich Nanchang in Jiangxi Province.
With the train travelling at a speed of 304 kilometres per hour, Sule could not help but notice the well-cultivated farmlands in the region.
He informed the Chinese delegation about his plan to implement the cluster farming method, leveraging crops best suited for particular areas of the state to create “core agriculture zones.”
Governor Sule expressed his desire for a partnership that would ensure every available land in the state is cultivated, similar to the agricultural richness observed in Henan Province.
He added that the recent distribution of tractors and seedlings to all Local Government Areas in the state is a practical demonstration of his administration’s commitment to advancing agriculture.
Mr Chen Qiang, while responding, said his team is ready to align with Governor Sule’s vision of facilitating large-scale mechanised farming in Nasarawa State.
Mr Qiang acknowledged that the land in Nasarawa is richer than some areas in China, underscoring their desire to cultivate in the state while seeking collaboration with the government.
