
The Jigawa government has approved N9.78 billion for the rehabilitation of 114 primary healthcare facilities in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, Mr Sagir Musa said this on Tuesday while addressing journalists at the end of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting.
He said the approval was in line with the Umar Namadi administration commitment to enhance access to quality healthcare service delivery, and attain Universal Healthcare Coverage.
Musa said the projects would be implemented under the World Bank’s funded Immunisation Plus and Malaria Progress for Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services (IMPACT) programme.
The commissioner said the council approved the constitution of a 10-member committee mandated to come up with modalities for talent hunt, to encourage creativity and innovation among the youths in the State.
He said the committee would be headed by the Commissioner for Higher Education, while commissioners for Health, Environment, Local Government, Information, Technical Advisers on ICT and Digital Economy, Higher Education and Agriculture would serve as members.
Others are the Director-General, Youth Empowerment/Employment Agency and Principal Private Secretary to the governor while the Special Assistant on Technology and Innovation would serve as secretary.
“The Commitee was constituted in fulfillment of his Excellency’s vision on Human Capital Development in the 12-Point Agenda, and has a mandate of two weeks to submit its reports.”
Musa said the council also approved the launching of a Special Citizen Engagement Programme tagged in Hausa Language: “Gwamnati da Jamma’a,” to be organising town hall meetings across the 27 local government areas of the state.
He said the programme would provide a space for the governor and government officials to interact with people, towards promoting citizens engagement in shaping their future and be informed about development projects
