The Lagos State government has implemented a traffic diversion plan ahead of technical checks, duct calibration, and road repairs at designated locations on Lagos Island.

The repair works begin today, January 17, and are scheduled to end on Friday, January 31, 2025. In a statement, the government identified affected locations, including Bonny Camp Underbridge to Eko Atlantic Sales Office, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Officer’s Mess inward Independence Bridge, Ajose Adeogun to Ligali Ayorinde, and Ligali Ayorinde to the end of Landmark.

According to the schedule, the repairs at Bonny Camp Underbridge will focus on the road median and will not affect traffic. However, from Eko Hotel Roundabout (Sunday, January 19, 2025), motorists moving towards Adetokunbo Ademola will be diverted into two lanes at the roundabout for smooth operations.

At Officer’s Mess inward Independence Bridge (Sunday, January 19, 2025), vehicles heading to Independence Bridge will be redirected to the two extreme lanes farthest from the kerb. Similarly, from Monday, January 20, to Friday, January 24, 2025, motorists at Ajose Adeogun to Ligali Ayorinde will be diverted into two lanes near the Ligali Ayorinde Junction due to repairs on a manhole.

The final phase of repairs, from Ligali Ayorinde to the end of Landmark, will take place between Saturday, January 25, and Friday, January 31, 2025.The State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured residents that Traffic Management Officers would be deployed to ensure minimal inconvenience and to manage vehicular movement effectively.

He added that the repair works would be carried out on road setbacks to avoid disruptions to traffic flow.

The government urged motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic management measures, noting that the diversions are necessary for the maintenance and technical checks on underground submarine cables.
