LASTMA, LASAMBUS rescue 14 after accident on Third Mainland Bridge
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has rescued 14 people involved in a road crash at Ilaje, inward Iyana-Oworonshoki, along the Third Mainland Brid
The accident, which involved a Mazda commercial bus with registration number XN 997 KTU, occurred due to reckless speeding. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a moving Toyota Yaris, registered as 11150 DLA. The impact resulted in multiple casualties, prompting an emergency response.
LASTMA officials, in collaboration with the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), swiftly rescued 14 victims, including the commercial bus driver, from the wreckage. Security operatives from Alonge Police Station provided tactical support to maintain order during the rescue operation.
The injured were handed over to LASAMBUS personnel, who transported them to Gbagada General Hospital for treatment. Reacting to the incident, the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, emphasised the importance of adhering to speed limits to prevent road accidents. He extended his sympathies to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
