A tragic accident has claimed the life of a 60-year-old man in Kano State. The victim, Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, drowned after falling into an abandoned well on Saturday.

According to Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer for the Kano State Fire Service, Mr. Unguwa Uku was driving a car belonging to the first wife of the Minister of Defence. He had reportedly dropped off guests at a nearby residence when he stepped out to urinate.

Mr. Abdullahi explained that Mr. Uku was unaware of the presence of an abandoned well in the area. The well’s cover reportedly caved in, causing him to fall in.

The Kano State Fire Service responded swiftly to the emergency call, arriving at the scene within 15 minutes.

Sadly, despite rescue efforts, Mr. Uku was pulled unconscious from the well and later pronounced dead at Sir Sunusi Hospital.

His body has been handed over to the Dakata Police Division for further investigation.
