Again, Army rescue kidnapped victims, recover weapons in Taraba

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, operating under Operation Golden Peace and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in Taraba State, yesterday disrupted an armed robbery activity in the state, and rescued three kidnapped victims from the kidnappers’ den.

The Brigade’s Acting Assistant Public Relations Officer, Captain Oni Olubodunde, who disclosed this in a statement said several weapons and ammunition were recovered during the operations. He described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Taraba.

“During a patrol along the Takum-Katsina Ala road, troops intercepted an ongoing robbery near Kasuwa Shenu in Takum Town.The swift action led to the arrest of a suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was allegedly found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition,” the Army said.

In a related operation on December 13, troops, according to the soldiers, “responded to a distress call from Manzala Village in Yoro Local Government Area concerning bandit activities”. adding that, “they successfully rescued three kidnapped victims, who have since been safely reunited with their families.”

Elated by the achievements, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their professionalism and dedication.

He also beckoned to the public to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence to help combat criminal activities. He on behalf of the Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while denying criminals any room to operate in Taraba and neighbouring states.
