The Kano State Hisbah Commission has declared the Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara, wanted over alleged adultery.

Sankara, who was reportedly caught by the Shari’a engaging in illicit sexual relations with a married woman in his car, parked in an incomplete building, has refused to report himself as agreed after his release.

Addressing a press conference at the board headquarters on Monday, Hisbah Commander General, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, disclosed that Sankara was granted bail on self-recognition after pledging to abide by all terms and conditions of the release.

Daurawa explained that Sankara’s refusal to appear has compelled Hisbah to charge the first suspect to court.

Although the Hisbah boss revealed that after a series of interventions, the board and all parties agreed to settle the matter out of court, he regretted that the complainant, Nasiru Bulama, insisted on legal action following Sankara’s disappearance.

Daurawa further disclosed that Hisbah had been conducting a contact trace of Sankara over the past month, following the complaint, before the suspect was eventually apprehended.

Reacting to Sankara’s rebuttal of the allegation, Daurawa stated that Hisbah has video evidence and a confessional statement where the suspect admitted to committing the illicit act on three occasions.

Meanwhile, the husband of the second suspect, Nasiru Bulama, has vowed to pursue all legal avenues to demand justice. Bulama, speaking shortly after the press conference, lamented that he had been cheated by Sankara.
