Army foils robbery, rescues victims, recovers weapons in Taraba
The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade has successfully disrupted a series of criminal activities in Taraba State, leading to the arrest of a robbery suspect and the rescue of three kidnapped victims.
The Brigade, operating under Operation Golden Peace and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), confirmed in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday that several weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the operations.
The statement, signed by the Brigade’s Acting Assistant Public Relations Officer, Captain Oni Olubodunde, described the operations as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Taraba.
“During a patrol along the Takum-Katsina Ala road, troops intercepted an ongoing robbery near Kasuwa Shenu in Takum Town.
The swift action led to the arrest of a suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was allegedly found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition,” the Army stated.
In a related operation on December 13, troops, according to the statement, responded to a distress call from Manzala Village in Yoro Local Government Area concerning bandit activities and rescued three kidnap victims, who have since been safely reunited with their families.”
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism.
He urged the public to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely information on criminal activities.
On behalf of the Nigerian Army, he reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property while denying criminals any room to operate in Taraba and neighbouring states.
