Rotary Club of Agege under the leadership of its President, Abiola Ogundeji, has been commended by the District Governor, Rotary International, District 9111, Lagos and Ogun States, Bukola Olabisi Bakare for its laudable projects and also for its plans ahead for the Rotary year 2026-2027.

Bakare, who was on her routine visit to the club, was visibly impressed by the humanitarian activities of the club, which include adopting a baby, who lost the mother for which the district governor also announced the gift of N1m to the caregivers of the baby by the district. She sai The club would charter two new clubs and grow the membership by 30 per cent.”

“Contribution to the Rotary Foundation for the district is $1m and the club promised to contribute $550,000, which is more than half of what is expected from the district.

“The Club has also supported the District Education and Welfare Endowment Fund (DEWEF) with N5m which is part-payment of the N10m goal and all these are part of the laudable projects they have in the pipeline,” she said.

Ogundeji said that apart from the baby that was adopted, the club also sponsored seven youths on skill acquisition on hairdressing, make-up, catering, ICT and were all given starter packs sufficient enough to start their business from the comfort of their homes.

“All the executed projects gulped up to N5M (five million naira.

“We intend to boost our public image in every area as directed by the District Governor and we also intend to strengthen our Rotaract club, charter two new Interact clubs as well as having one or two more Rotary Kids clubs” he said.

Ogundeji wished to look back after his tenure and see his footprints in the sands of time as one who effectively served humanity and move forward to serve better.
