An officer of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified as Mr. Ayo, has been killed by gunmen suspected to be armed bandits in Kogi State.

The attackers also abducted his daughter during a late-night raid on his residence in Odo-Ere, the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area.

Medical personnel confirmed that the officer was shot in the head and was rushed to a nearby medical facility, where he was declared dead on arrival. His remains have since been deposited in a mortuary as a “Brought-In-Dead” case.

According to local sources, the armed men stormed the residence, carried out the attack, and fled the scene with the victim’s first daughter, deepening fear and tension in the community.

As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The attack has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in Yagba West and surrounding areas, with residents calling for urgent intervention from security authorities.
