BBL surgery: Police arrest nurse over woman’s death
The Lagos State Police has arrested a nurse in Lekki following the death of a 36-year-old woman, identified as Abiola after undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery.
The Lagos State Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Wednesday said that the driver of the deceased reported the incident at the Maroko Police Division.
According to Hundeyin, the driver reported that his employer, a resident of Diamond Estate in Sangotedo-Lekki, whom he drove to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a cosmetic surgery to enhance her figure, a procedure known as BBL, died.
”Upon our arrival, the clinic owner directed a nurse to administer the injection on Abiola. Moments later, chaos ensued as the woman lost consciousness and started gasping for breath,” Hundeyin quoted the driver as saying.
The police spokesman said desperate for help, the driver rushed Abiola to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1 but she was confirmed dead on arrival by the staff on duty.
Hundeyin said detectives from the police command had visited the scene, to gather evidence, having inspected and photographed her remains and subsequently transported the corpse to a public morgue for autopsy.
“The nurse involved has been taken into custody and the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, has asked for an investigation into the harrowing incident,” he said.
