Borno CP charges officers on professionalism, effective community policing

The Borno State Police Commissioner, Naziru Abdulmajid, has charged officers on professionalism and an effective community policing to protect people’s lives and property across the state.

He said the strategic security meeting is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu to promote professionalism and people-oriented policing in the country.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Maiduguri by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso disclosed: “The Commissioner today held a strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers across the state.”

He further revealed that other officers In attendance at the strategic security meeting were the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Evans Elam Shem; Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, DCP Babagana Saje; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, DCP Bala Salihu Jarumai;” as well as Heads of Departments and other senior officers of the command.

Daso said that during the meeting, the Commissioner of Police commended the officers and men of the command, especially the Divisional Police Officers who have been on their toes to ensure their Areas of Responsibility (AORs) are well policed.

He, therefore charged the dozens of officers and men to uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The CP further charged them to remain civil and professional in the performance of their duties, urging them to project a positive image of the Police.

The police added that to enhance collaboration, the command will adopt community engagement at the grassroots level to encourage information sharing and partnership.

The CP also emphasized that every officer is an image maker of the Force.

A review of the command’s operations, based on available security intelligence, indicates that crime is reducing according to key indices.

The command is also taking proactive measures in the training and retraining of officers to enhance their responsiveness to emerging security trends, while making necessary preparations for upcoming electioneering activities.

The command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support security efforts of the officers.
