To avert building collapse, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has planned a pre-emptive demolition at the police barracks in Onigbongbo, Lagos old block 3, and Mopol 20 barracks, behind Area F, Ikeja GRA.

In a statement yesterday, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the development: “We are conducting a response plan that consists of assessment, safe and orderly evacuation, and controlled demolition.

Under the watchful eye of the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, we will be carrying out this pre-emptive demolition due to the precarious condition of the building and possible secondary incidents that could occur if left unmanaged.

“Members of the public within the vicinity are to take note of this plan, remain calm and refrain from panicking or circulating misleading information via social media.”
