About 76 people have been arrested following a tip-off on a same-sex birthday party and a planned marriage in Gombe State.
The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Gombe State, North-East Nigeria, Mohammed Muazu, confirmed the arrest on Sunday.
A spokesperson for the Command, Buhari Saad, who represented the Commandant, told journalists that, upon investigation, 21 men out of 59 males were involved in gay activities.
He said the remaining males and 17 females were invited guests and onlookers at the birthday party.
The suspects arrested were seen in an amateur video partying in an open hall with a 20-year-old Bashir called by his admirers Basira dancing to entertain and prepare for a wedding ceremony for his suitor, who is at large.
The NSCDC officials said there are concerns about the ages of the individuals who were involved in the act, stating that they would ensure the individuals return to school under observation.
Meanwhile, the command assures it will prosecute the individuals after investigations have been concluded.
In August, 67 suspects were arrested by the Delta State Police Command for the alleged practise of homosexuality.
The suspects were picked up in a hotel during a midnight wedding ceremony for a gay couple.
