Court remands man, 25, facing charges of assault, theft of laptops
A Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan, has ordered the remand of one Fawas Afolabi, 25, facing charges of assault and theft of two laptops valued at three million naira.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count-charge of conspiracy, causing breach of peace, assault and stealing preferred against him.
The court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo ordered Afolabi to be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre in Ibadan following his inability to meet the N500,000 bail granted him.
She subsequently adjourned the matter until Feb. 17 for hearing.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, told the court that Afolabi committed the alleged offences on Dec. 24, at about 2:00p.m., at Senior J-Car Wash, Islamic Complex, Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to the prosecution, the defendant with others now at large assaulted Ayodeji Temitayo, Olamilekan Adigun and Rasheed Dauda striking them with heavy blows.
Ayeni also explained that Afolabi and his gang stole two laptops – an HP and Toshiba model – each valued at N1.5 million respectively, property of one Victor Ayodeji. Hi
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 516, 249, 351 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 vol. ii Laws of Oyo State 2000.
