Court remands man, 36, over alleged murder

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 36-year-old man, David Olalekan, in the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre over alleged murder.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged murder.

The prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Oct. 4 in Igede-Ekiti.

He said that the defendant had sexually assaulted a 58-year-old woman, one Mrs. Bosede Akinlusi, who died in the process.

According to him, the offense contravene Section 234 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution(DPP).

The plea of the defendant was, however, not taken.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, remanded of the defendant in the correctional centre pending issuance of legal advice.

He adjourned the case until Nov. 22 for mention.
