Delta gov consoles Abraka community, promises justice for slain woman

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has pledged that justice will be served following the tragic killing of a yet-to-be-identified woman in Abraka by security operatives.

The incident, which has sparked outrage in the community, occurred during a reported pursuit of suspected criminals when the victim was allegedly struck by a stray bullet.

Describing the incident as “very unfortunate,” Oborevwori expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family and the entire Abraka community. In a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor lamented that the tragedy could have been avoided if security operatives had adhered to standard procedures.

“The loss of any innocent life is unacceptable,” the governor stated. “This unfortunate incident underscores the need for our security agencies to operate with the highest level of professionalism and restraint.”

He called on all security agencies in the state to strictly follow operational guidelines and ensure that their actions do not endanger the very citizens they are meant to protect.

Oborevwori assured residents that a thorough investigation into the incident is already underway and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Delta State.

While appealing for calm in Abraka, the governor urged the public to await the outcome of the investigation and promised that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

“This government will not tolerate impunity. We will ensure that justice is done,” he added.
