The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two members of a syndicate for defrauding job seekers ₦11m

The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two members of a syndicate involved in an employment scam that defrauded the public of over N11 million.

According to the police in the state, a manhunt has been launched for the principal suspect in the criminal activity, one Kyari Nehemiah Daniel, who is on the run.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ranham Nansel, disclosed this in a press statement made available to The Guardian in Lafia on Friday.

“Police operatives of the Nasarawa State Command have arrested Emmanuel Michael, a 42-year-old man operating a private security guard service in Abuja, and Jerry Aruwa, a 47-year-old resident of Kabusa area, FCT Abuja, for an employment scam. Five fake appointment letters of the Nigeria Customs Service were recovered from them as exhibits.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects conspired with Kyari Nehemiah Daniel (at large) of Angwan TIV, Karshi Development Area, Karu LGA of Nasarawa State.

“The suspects posed as Customs officers and defrauded unsuspecting members of the public of Eleven Million, Seven Hundred and Ninety-Two Thousand Naira (#11,792,000) under the pretext of securing jobs for the victims in the Nigeria Customs Service.”

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Shehu Nadada, has ordered a manhunt for the principal suspect, Kyari Nehemiah Daniel, and advised job seekers to seek employment through proper channels to avoid falling victim to scammers.
