A security expert, Monday Alade, on Thursday, advised that modern technology should be deployed for the operation of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as Amotekun Corps, to effectively and efficiently tackle insecurity.
While also pushing for the advanced training of the Amotekun operatives, the security expert, in an interview with newsmen, commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his efforts at improving the safety of lives and property in the state.
Alade, who is based in the United States of America, however, cautioned the kinsmen of the governor from the southern senatorial district of the state against what he described as incessant attacks on the governor, stressing that they should guard against allowing history to repeat itself.
According to the stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the current incendiary and inflammatory remarks being made against the governor are quite unfortunate, recalling that similar attacks were directed at the late Dr Olusegun Agagu, and that lack of support undermined his reputation and overshadowed his accomplishments.
Alade, who currently serves as a police officer in the US, urged the people of the district to rally behind Aiyedatiwa in his bid to deliver good governance, adding that the governor needs the full support of the people to succeed.
He said, “This is a lifetime opportunity for the people of Ondo South to have one of their own as governor. The South develops faster whenever a Southerner leads because only Southerners truly understand the peculiar challenges of the region.
“We should not allow the same mistake made during Agagu to repeat itself. It is the Ikales who would ultimately bear the loss. For almost 25 years, Ikales and Ilajes have endured total darkness.
“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s policies and programmes are already yielding the desired benefits. There is a need for APC members across the state to unite behind the governor for the progress, political stability, future electoral victories, and overall prosperity of the state.
“I am particularly impressed by the recent National Bureau of Statistics report showing Ondo State as the first to clear its internal debts and now ranked the least in the poverty index.”
He applauded the governor’s multiple legacy projects, including the dualisation of major roads and the execution of critical infrastructure.
