Family of slain Delta graduate demands justice
The family of the late Mr Onyeka Kikeme, a graduate of Chemistry Education from the University of Delta, Agbor, Ika South Local Council, Delta State, has called on the state government to ensure those responsible for his murder are brought to justice.
The family also appealed to the Chairman of Ika North East Local Council, Mr Hunkamma Odigwe, to ensure that the perpetrators of the heinous crime are held accountable, providing some relief to the grieving family.
Kikeme’s lifeless body was discovered in the Owa-Oyibu bush last Wednesday, shortly after he had left his mother’s house, where he had spent time with her.
According to his brother, Joseph Onyinye Blessing, the deceased left his mother’s home at around 7:00 p.m., despite her repeated pleas for him to stay longer.
“We are seeking justice, not only for our family but for others who have suffered similar tragedies at the hands of these unscrupulous individuals. The entire community now lives in perpetual fear of the unknown,” Blessing said.
He added that his brother, a promising young man with aspirations, was awaiting his visa to travel abroad before his untimely death.
Blessing explained that after graduating two years ago, the late Kikeme became a motorcyclist to support himself. He operated a small transportation business, using his bike to ferry people around town while waiting for his visa approval.
He lamented, “The sudden death of Mr Onyeka Kikeme has left my family and the entire community devastated. Onyeka wasn’t just a brother; he was a beacon of hope, kindness, and resilience.”
