A good Samaritan, Funmi Azike, is appealing to the public for assistance in locating the family of a man identified only as Femi.
The man is believed to be from Iwo in Osun State.
Femi was discovered in critical condition by the roadside on August 10, 2024.
Azike recounted how she initially mistook him for a corpse while visiting her parents. Noticing another person checking for a pulse, she stopped to assess the situation.
“I parked and tried to call emergency services, but there was no response,” Azike explained. “I then contacted the hospital coordinator from the Prisons and Hospital Ministry for advice and was instructed to go to the nearest police station. After a long ordeal with the police, someone finally contacted the state ambulance service.”
Despite waiting for hours, no ambulance arrived. After several failed attempts to get help, Azike, the other man assisting, and the ministry’s coordinator decided to return to the police. Azike was eventually directed to the Airforce Clinic, where Femi was stabilised and received medical attention.
He was later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he remained in a coma. Thankfully, Femi has regained consciousness and is currently being treated in the Neuro/Cardio Ward at LASUTH.
The only information we have is that his name is Femi, and he is from Iwo,” Azike said. “We are financially strained and urgently need to locate his family. We have not received any support.”
Azike is asking the public for any relevant information that could help reunite Femi with his family.
