A 42-year-old teacher, Gbolahan Osinusi, has been arrested in the Ketu area of Lagos State for the alleged prolonged sexual abuse and forced abortions of his 17-year-old ward.

The abuse is reported to have begun when the girl was just 12 years old and continued for five years.

The case was brought to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja on September 30, 2024.

The victim revealed that Osinusi, a teacher at a school in Ketu-Epe, had repeatedly subjected her to sexual intercourse and forced her to undergo multiple abortions.

To ensure her silence, he allegedly compelled her to swear an oath, threatening her life if she disclosed the abuse.

A nurse, Mariam Fatolu, is also implicated in the case for allegedly providing abortion drugs to the victim. Currently receiving medical attention at the General Hospital Ketu-Epe, Fatolu will face charges upon release, according to Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin.

Osinusi appeared in court on October 16, 2024.
