Oso community in Ajowa-Akoko, Akoko North West Local Council of Ondo State, has been thrown into panic following the kidnap of its monarch, the Oloso of Oso, Oba Clement Jimoh Olukotun.

The Guardian learnt that the suspected kidnappers, who were fully armed, stormed the agrarian community and invaded the palace of the 66-year-old monarch around 10.15pm.
After confirming the identity of the traditional ruler, the gunmen were said to have whisked the traditional ruler away to an unknown destination.
According to a family source, the gunmen sporadically shot at the palace’s gate before gaining access to the main building, where the monarch was found.

The source further said that the gunmen became furious when the palace guards refused to open the main gate, causing them to destroy the gate with bullets.
He added that the bullets pierced the door and wall of the living room, but said none of the occupants was hit.
The source stressed that the heavy gunfire terrified the residents, all through when the operation lasted.

He said: “When they came, they surrounded the building and started ordering the monarch and other occupants to open the door and surrender willingly. But, nobody answered. At this point, they started shooting.
“They destroyed the main door and entered inside. They terrorised Kabiyesi and his family members before taking him away. No family member has been contacted.”

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami, said the police operatives had been deployed to rescue the monarch.
