The Nigerian Immigration Service has arrested 376 illegal immigrants in Ogun State who were involved in fraudulent activities aimed at swindling innocent Nigerians.
The suspects were arrested at their hideouts during a joint raid by officers from the Ogun State Command and Zone A headquarters in the suburbs of Lambe/Ajuwon Akute areas, based on credible intelligence.
According to the Comptroller of the Ogun State Command, Muhammed Akadri, their profiling revealed that 334 of the individuals are Cameroonian, 27 are Ghanaian, one is Togolese, and 26 are Beninese. He further stated that the arrested individuals include 251 males and 125 females aged between 25 and 30.
It was also revealed that all the foreigners entered the country through unauthorised entry points and, upon interrogation, failed to present residence cards or any form of travel documents.
Akadri added that the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has ordered the repatriation of the individuals to their respective countries of origin.
