The immediate past Commissioner of Police in Abia State, AIG Danladi Isa, has urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, saying public cooperation remains the cornerstone of effective policing and the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state.
  
Isa, who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and redeployed to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Kaduna, made the appeal during a farewell ceremony held in his honour in Umuahia.
  
Expressing gratitude to the Abia State Government, security agencies and residents for their support throughout his tenure, the former police commissioner attributed the state’s improved security to the unwavering backing of Governor Alex Otti, strong collaboration among security agencies and the willingness of residents to volunteer useful intelligence.
  
He stressed that security agencies cannot effectively combat crime without timely information from the public, and appealed to residents to sustain their partnership with law enforcement agencies.
  
Isa also charged officers and men of the Abia State Police Command to remain accessible, respectful and professional in their dealings with members of the public, noting that the cordial relationship between the police and citizens had helped maintain peace across the state.
  
The ceremony was attended by top government officials, heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, business groups, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) and senior police officers, all of whom commended Isa’s leadership and described his promotion as well deserved.

Representing Governor Alex Otti, the Chief of Staff, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, described Isa as a disciplined, dedicated and result-oriented officer whose professionalism and prompt response to security challenges contributed significantly to making Abia one of Nigeria’s most peaceful states.

He said the state’s security successes were made possible through effective synergy among security agencies under Isa’s leadership and wished him greater accomplishments in his new assignment.
  
Also speaking, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Security Matters, retired Navy Commander Macdonald Uba, praised Isa’s discipline, professionalism and commitment to excellence, urging him to replicate the same qualities in his new office.

Chairman of the Abia State PCRC, Chief Ifeanyi Igboanulam, described the new AIG as a man of integrity and an open-door administrator who consistently promoted community policing and supported the committee’s activities.
  
Similarly, the representative of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Elder Odum Amogu, commended the Police Service Commission for recognising Isa’s contributions with promotion, while Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Ohazuru Ifeanyi, said the former commissioner would be remembered for prioritising officers’ welfare, encouraging inclusive leadership and inspiring professionalism within the command.
  
POWA representative, Mrs Comfort Mba Ajugwa, also described Isa’s tenure as impactful and supportive.
  
Meanwhile, AIG Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka has officially assumed duty as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9 Headquarters, Umuahia, with responsibility for police operations in Abia, Imo and Ebonyi states.
  
Emeka succeeds the late AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu, who died during a brief illness.
  
In a statement issued by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Iheanetu Bruno Chukwudera, the new AIG was described as a seasoned police officer with an impressive academic background, including a PhD in Applied Psychology, a Law degree and several postgraduate qualifications.
  
He has attended specialised professional training in Nigeria, South Africa, the United States and the United Kingdom, covering commercial crime investigation, terrorism financing, cybercrime investigation, financial crimes and intelligence operations.
  
His career includes serving as Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; Commissioner of Police in Rivers State; Commissioner of Police, Force CID Annex, Enugu; Deputy Commissioner of Police in several strategic formations; and Head of Operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) across multiple zones.
  
On assuming office, Emeka pledged to strengthen security across the three South-East states under his jurisdiction and appealed to residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, religious organisations, civil society groups and the media to support the police with credible and actionable intelligence.
  
He assured the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property through stronger collaboration with stakeholders and sustained professionalism in policing.
