The Sarki Dawakin Babba of Kano, Alh. Aminu Babba Dan’Agundi has rejected the Court of Appeal’s verdict nullifying the Federal High Court’s ruling on the Kano emirship dispute.
Dan’Agundi, a senior member of the Kano Emirate Council, expressed dissatisfaction with the judgment and directed his legal team to escalate the matter to the Supreme Court.
He insisted that Aminu Ado Bayero remains the rightful Emir of Kano and urged Sanusi and the Kano State Government to refrain from celebrating the Appeal Court’s verdict until the Supreme Court’s decision.
The Appeal Court had overturned Justice Abdullahi Liman’s ruling, stating that the Federal High Court lacked jurisdiction over chieftaincy matters, which fall under the purview of state high courts.
