Kwankwaso@69: Gwarzo praises ex-governor’s commitment to education

The President of the Association of Private Universities of Africa, Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, has commended former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, for what he described as a lifelong dedication to education and youth empowerment.

In a goodwill message marking Senator Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, Professor Gwarzo celebrated the former governor’s contributions to educational advancement in Nigeria, noting that his policies and scholarship initiatives have left an enduring mark on the nation’s academic landscape.
“Senator Kwankwaso’s 69 years on earth have been deeply impactful, not only to Kano State but to Nigeria and humanity at large. His visionary investment in the education sector has transformed lives and empowered thousands of young people to reach the pinnacle of academic and professional excellence,” Professor Gwarzo said in a statement released to journalists.

He highlighted the wide reach of Senator Kwankwaso’s scholarship programmes, which have produced PhD holders, professors, medical doctors, engineers, and other professionals, describing them as evidence of the senator’s sustained commitment to human capital development.
“His commitment to providing access to quality education has elevated countless families and communities. This is the kind of leadership that shapes societies for generations to come,” Gwarzo added.

The academic leader extended his best wishes to Senator Kwankwaso, praying for continued health, peace of mind, and many more years of public service.
“I heartily congratulate you on your birthday and wish you many happy returns. May your legacy continue to inspire present and future generations,” he said.

Yusuf Reaffirms Loyalty to Kwankwaso

Meanwhile, Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed reports suggesting a disagreement between him and his political mentor, Kwankwaso, insisting that no one can drive a wedge between them.
Speaking in Madobi on Tuesday during an event to mark Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his allegiance to the former governor and reiterated his commitment to the ideals of the Kwankwasiyya movement, which he described as the guiding force behind his administration.

“Those within and outside trying to create a quarrel between me and our leader, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will not succeed,” Yusuf said. “We will continue to follow the legacy and principles of the Kwankwasiyya movement because Kwankwaso is a God-given leader.”
He also offered prayers for Kwankwaso’s long life and good health, describing the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) national leader as a visionary whose leadership continues to shape Kano’s political direction.

In recent months, reports had surfaced about a group known as Abba Tsaya da Kafarka (“Abba Stand on Your Feet”), allegedly led by the former Secretary to the State Government, Dr Baffa Bichi, and former Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Salisu Digol. The group was said to be advocating greater independence for Governor Yusuf’s administration, sparking speculation about a potential rift between him and Kwankwaso.

However, Yusuf’s public remarks appear to have quelled those rumours, signalling his continued loyalty to Kwankwaso and reaffirming the unity within the NNPP leadership in Kano.
