Lagos moves against roadside traders at Mile 2 corridor

Operatives of the Lagos State environmental enforcement team, Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), yesterday dislodged illegal traders at the busy 2nd Rainbow Junction, along the Mile 2 corridor.

The operation saw roadside stalls, benches and tables used to display goods dismantled and removed, as part of government efforts to restore order and ensure free movement for motorists and pedestrians.

The Lagos State Ministry of the Environment said traders operating on road verges and junctions had continued to obstruct traffic, endanger pedestrians and worsen environmental conditions through indiscriminate littering.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to keeping roads and walkways safe, clean and free from violations.

He warned residents of the dangers posed by roadside trading and urged them to seek lawful alternatives in designated markets.
