Lagos seals fast food outlet for discharging fats, oil into drainage
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed off Cravings & More, a fast food outlet along Egbeda-Idimu Road, for the illegal discharge of fats and oil from their kitchen into the public drainage system.
This was revealed by Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his X handle.
According to Wahab, LSWMO sealed off the fast food outlet today (Monday, September 16, 2024).
He stated that the unwholesome sanitation practices of the restaurant have led to the clogging of the drainage system.
He said this has caused a massive proliferation of maggots and houseflies, as well as the emission of foul odour, causing discomfort and health hazards to the entire community.
He said the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources remains committed to ensuring that sanitation and hygiene standards are not compromised in the state.
Also, the Commissioner disclosed that the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) sealed Donald’s Fast Food on Adebayo Doherty Street, Lekki 1, over noise pollution and other environmental infractions.
He said LASEPA decided to seal off the place after several warnings and abatement notices.
