Lagos Task Force denies extorting motorists on Sheraton Link Bridge, Toyin Street

Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai

The Lagos State Task Force has denied claims that its officers are stationed around the Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi and along Toyin Street to arrest unsuspecting motorists making turns in those areas.

An anonymous individual had warned motorists against turning in the area, alleging that Task Force officials were positioned to apprehend them.

Reacting, the Director of Public Affairs, Lagos State Task Force, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, described the allegations as false and misleading.

He clarified that the Task Force had suspended traffic enforcement operations following a directive issued by the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, on April 1, 2026.

He added that the agency’s recent operations have focused on environmental enforcement and the arrest of miscreants, rather than traffic-related offences.

Abdulraheem urged the public to disregard the claims, assuring that the Task Force remains committed to enforcing the law and ridding the state of criminal elements.

He also warned impostors and unauthorised individuals engaging in unlawful enforcement activities to desist or face arrest and prosecution.
