Lagos Taskforce seizes over 50 motorcycles, 10 vehicles on Coastal Highway

The Lagos State Taskforce has renewed enforcement against motorcycle operations, traffic infractions and illegal roadside structures along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road.

More than 50 motorcycles were seized, while 10 vehicles were apprehended for various traffic violations along the corridor over the weekend.

According to a video circulated on X, formerly Twitter, operatives of the taskforce were seen taking action against erring motorists, commercial motorcyclists and unauthorised structures along the route.

Those affected by the enforcement included illegal motorcycle operators, dispatch riders driving against traffic and individuals erecting shanties within the coastal highway corridor.

In a post, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Jubril Gawat, said: “Lagos State Taskforce has commenced enforcement against Okada operations, one-way driving and the removal of shanties along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road corridor.”

Over 50 motorcycles were confiscated for operating on highways in violation of Lagos State traffic laws, while 10 vehicles were arrested and will be charged to court for driving against traffic. Enforcement will continue.”
