The Yobe State Police Command has arrested Nasiru Junaidu for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl in the state.The 30-year-old Junaidu, a resident of the Nayi Nawa community, was arrested by operatives of the ‘A’ Division Police Headquarters, Damaturu, for a case involving an alleged defilement and child abuse of a nine-year-old girl.

The command spokesperson, SP Abdulkarim Dungus, disclosed the arrest.Dungus further stated: “Preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect lured the minor into a timber shade in Damaturu, the state capital severally, before the suspect was arrested by the police.”

The victim was rescued and taken to the Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, for medical examination and treatment of sustained injuries on her thighs and forehead.

Dungus said the investigation is ongoing and the case will be transferred to the Gender Unit of the State’s Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action and prosecution.
