• Police nab middle-aged man for stabbing 25-year-old to death
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 53-year-old man, Kolawole Babawale, for allegedly abusing his 16-year-old niece and facilitating the termination of two pregnancies.
The victim reported her uncle at a police station, alleging that she had been subjected to repeated assaults.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, operatives from the gender-based offences unit were immediately mobilised and arrested the suspect at his residence in Igbado, Ondo West Local Council.
Ayanlade said: “The victim further alleged that the suspect engaged in the acts almost daily. Shockingly, the suspect had also facilitated the termination of her pregnancies on two occasions. He has since been arraigned before a competent court of jurisdiction and remanded in custody pending further trial. The command reiterates its commitment to protecting the rights of women and children.”
In a separate incident, police operatives also arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man to death during an altercation.
The police spokesperson identified the suspect as Wale Ibrahim, who allegedly stabbed the deceased, Fisayo Ajetumobi, at a construction site along Litaye Camp via Lake Road, Ondo. The case was reported to the police by one Akinsola Lukman.
Ayanlade explained: “An altercation ensued between the duo of Wale and Gabriel, during which the suspect, Wale Ibrahim, became violent and stabbed one Fisayo Ajetumobi, aged 25, in the chest with a knife. Sadly, the victim sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot as a result of this unwarranted act of violence. The suspect was promptly arrested by the police following diligent investigation.”
