Man flees home over attempts on life by armed men

FORTY-ONE-year old Aladoro Amuche, an indigene of Umuokwara,Orlu Autonomous community in Orlu Local Council of Imo state, has raised the alarm over attempts on his life by armed men in military camouflage parading as unknown gun men.

Amuche, a truck driver who claimed to be a member of the indigenous people of biafra (ipob),said he was accused of being in possession of arms and ammunition.

The truck driver, in a statement, lamented that many youths in his community had been killed and maimed by these unknown clad in military uniforms.

The barbaric act, according to him,had forced many youths to flee communities in orlu, while others in cities dreaded coming home for fear of being entangled in the Web of the armed men.

Amuche, in the statement ,recalled how he narrowly escaped being killed by uniformed armed men two months ago, expressing shock that the government had not made moves to address what he described as a worrisome situation in orlu.

He said, “These gunmen attacked me along orlu road on June 16,when I was returning from a meeting with other members of ipob.

“We had earlier been informed that they were parading orlu town. When we sighted them, some of us managed to escape by running into the bush. But others were not as lucky, as they were caught. It was that point that I realised my life was in danger and had to flee.

“These acts of abduction and killing are not only on IPOB members, but also on non-members in the southeast region of Nigeria.”
