Man jailed 15 months for swindling businessman
An Area Court in Jos on Wednesday, sentenced Ayodele Afariogun, to 15 months imprisonment for swindling a businessman of the sum of 184,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge, however, gave the convict, in the first instance, an option of Np30,000 fine or going to jail for three months for swindling.
Bokkos added that the convict should also pay a compensation of N184,000 to the complainant or go to prison for 12 months if the convict defaulted.

Earlier, the police Prosecutor, Insp. Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported at the A Division Police Station, Jos, on Aug. 8, by one Ibrahim Dahiru.
Dabit said the convict was given the sum of N184,000 to purchase seven jerrycans of palm oil, in May, instead the convict converted the money into his personal use and refused to supply the palm oil or refund the money.
The prosecutor told the court that during the police investigation, the convict confessed to having committed the offence.
