Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, philanthropist and founder of The Mazi Organization (TMO), has extended financial assistance worth ₦10 million to women traders across two major markets in Imo State during the second edition of the Mazi Goes to Market outreach.
In a well-received initiative held at Nkwo Orji and Nkwo Emeke markets in Owerri North Local Government Area, Dr Amadi personally disbursed ₦5 million at each location. The effort was aimed at empowering grassroots traders and offering targeted support to vulnerable individuals within the local economy.
The outreach was marked by a series of emotional moments as beneficiaries shared their stories and received life-changing assistance. Among them was 27-year-old Chidinma Anyanwu, a determined trader who built her business from the ground up. Impressed by her resilience, Dr Amadi awarded her a ₦1 million grant, encouraging her to continue as a model of determination.
Another standout case was that of 18-year-old Pascaline, a school dropout who expressed her desire to return to education. Dr Amadi gifted her ₦200,000 on the spot and pledged to cover her full educational expenses. The gesture brought the young woman to tears, reigniting her dreams.
In a similar spirit, 11-year-old Chizikere, who has struggled to stay in school due to financial hardship, received ₦100,000 towards his education, with the clear message that his future matters. A visibly pregnant woman, encountered during routine shopping, was also given ₦600,000 in a spontaneous act of generosity that left her speechless.
Beyond financial gifts, Dr Amadi took additional steps to safeguard the wellbeing of all recipients by arranging security escorts to accompany them home — a move widely praised as both practical and compassionate.
The event, which drew hundreds of market women and onlookers, was attended by notable figures from The Mazi Organization, including Okenze Blyden Amajirionwu, George Onwukwe, Apiti, Michael Crown, Obinna Onwuegbucha, and Cajetan Duke.
Mazi Goes to Market, now in its second edition, is fast becoming a symbol of grassroots engagement, community upliftment, and small business support in Imo State. Dr Amadi’s approach — direct, compassionate, and focused on long-term empowerment — continues to resonate widely across the state.
