NAF airstrikes kill 103 terrorists, destroy ISWAP logistics hubs in Borno, Adamawa

Nigerian Air Force (NAF)

The Nigerian military has said that airstrikes targeting Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Borno and Adamawa states killed 103 terrorists and destroyed key logistics assets during operations conducted between October 10 and 18, 2026.

The strikes, carried out by the air component of the North-East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), targeted terrorist positions in Guzamala and Monguno local councils of Borno State and Gombi Local Council of Adamawa State.

In a statement in Maiduguri, the acting Media Information Officer of OPHK, Captain Mohammed Goni, said the operations were intelligence-led and involved coordinated air assets deployed against ISWAP positions.

He said: “The airstrike successes were recorded through the coordinated employment of Nigerian Army Aviation, the Nigerian Army Remotely Piloted Aircraft (NARPAS) Regiment and Air Component assets, reinforcing the military’s resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and deny them freedom of action.”

Goni said seven strikes were conducted during the period, targeting Gudumbali in Guzamala on October 10, Badu in Monguno on October 11, Mairari in Guzamala and an area east of Badu on October 13, Duste Uku in Gombi, Adamawa State, on October 16; and the reported alternative residence of Abu Saleem, ISWAP’s Wali of South Lake Chad, in the Arina Woje area of Monguno on October 18.

According to him, subsequent human intelligence reports confirmed the death of Jindullah, a prominent ISWAP fighter said to have served as Abu Saleem’s chief security guard, and Abul Kissa, a member of the group’s Shura Council.

Other prominent fighters were also reportedly killed in the targeted premises.

The military spokesman said the October 18 strike destroyed the targeted structure and logistics assets, including nine boat engines and several motorcycles stored there.

He added that the operation disrupted the group’s concealment arrangements in the forested area and weakened its ability to use the location as a safe haven.

Goni also disclosed that on October 13, a surveillance aircraft tracked 16 terrorists from the Mairari axis to a gathering of more than 100 fighters accompanied by several motorcycles.

He said the gathering was located about 23 kilometres east of Badu and 19 kilometres west of Monguno.

“A subsequent precision strike on the gathering resulted in the assessed neutralisation of approximately 30 terrorists, while the extent of damage to the motorcycles remained unconfirmed,” he said.

The military said the operations were part of sustained efforts to weaken ISWAP’s fighting capacity, disrupt its leadership and command structures, and destroy the logistics networks supporting its activities across the North-East.
