Federal University of Kashere

The management of the Federal University Kashere (FUK) in Gombe State has dispelled the fear of an alleged bandits’ attack on the institution that has been circulating in the state, especially on social media platforms.

University’s Chief Information Officer, Janet Ibrahim Ezekiel, dispelled the fear in a press release issued to journalists on Saturday.

According to her, there was no attack at the university, describing the insinuation as an attempt to cause chaos and panic among students.

She revealed that the incident, which some people “falsely propagate as a bandits’ attack”, was a clash between some youth from Jauro Buba and Garin Rigiya villages near the university.

Janet said the “false information” could disrupt the ongoing first-semester examinations at the university, urging students and their guardians to disregard it.

“The attention of the Management of Federal University Kashere has been drawn to a fake social media post in circulation, claiming that there was an attack on Federal University of Kashere by Bandits.

“Federal University Kashere wishes to inform the public that the information is entirely false, and an attempt to cause chaos and panic among students as well as disrupt the the on going first semester examinations.

“Management categorically states that there was no such incident in FUK, and the information circulating is fake and should be disregarded by all.

“The said incident was actually a local conflict between youths of Jauro Buba and Garin Rigiya villages. However, the police have put the situation under control.

“The management of FUK wishes to assure parents, guardians and the public that there is no need for panic and also strongly advises the public to rely only on verified University channels of communication for accurate information”, the press release read.
