Northern govs, traditional rulers meet over power outage in North
The Northern Governors and Traditional Rulers have convened a joint meeting to address the blackout in the region, following the electricity outage that has persisted for several days without any solution from the power authorities in the country.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who is also the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), convened the joint meeting involving all 19 Northern Governors and Traditional Rulers, which is currently ongoing at the Kaduna Government House.
The meeting will also look into other critical challenges affecting the zone, including security concerns, economic issues, and sustainable development priorities.
A statement signed by the Director General (Press Affairs) to Governor Yahaya, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said that the joint meeting is expected to “focus on charting a unified agenda to enhance regional cooperation and development, leveraging the North’s resources to promote long-term development.”
“Governor Inuwa Yahaya has been engaging with stakeholders across multiple sectors to implement actionable strategies for addressing security concerns, which are disrupting agricultural productivity and driving up food prices in the region,” the statement added.
