The National Park Service (NPS) has honoured retired Adamu Askira, Conservator of Park, (CP) for his outstanding performance, dedication, and contributions to the conservation and protection of Nigeria’s natural heritage.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Conservator-General of the Service, Dr Ibrahim Goni said they are honouring Askira with Certificate of Service in recognition of his years of service to both humanity and Nigeria in general.
Goni spoke on behalf of the NPS Governing Board and Management, highlighting Askira’s assignments in Gashaka-Gumti, Old Oyo and Kamuku National Parks, and praised him for commitment, professionalism and extensive field experience acquired in several national parks.
He also recognised Askira’s final assignment as Desk Officer representing the NPS at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), urging the retired officer to share his wealth of experience with younger officers for guidance on conservation matters.
Also, the Assistant Conservator-General (AC-G) Finance and Accounts, Inwon Fingesi, described Askira as a dependable colleague whose experience and professional contributions would remain memorable to officers.
Fingesi wished the retired officer good health, peace and fulfilment as he commenced a new chapter after years of dedicated service.
Responding, Askira thanked the Management National Park Service and colleagues for the support he received throughout his career and for honouring him at retirement.
He said that his years with the Service provided him valuable experiences, knowledge, exposure and lasting relationships, adding that he would remain committed to conservation affairs in the country.
