The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 945 personnel across the state to ensure the safety of residents and protection of critical national assets before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Anthony Uchenna, the State Commandant, Chinedu Igbo, said the deployment was aimed at guaranteeing a peaceful and hitch-free Sallah celebration across the state.

According to the statement, the operation became necessary because of the large concentration of critical national assets and infrastructure in Delta State, including facilities owned by the federal, state, and local governments, as well as privately owned infrastructure considered vital to the nation’s economy.

The command stated that the operation was also designed to safeguard lives and property throughout the festive period.

Igbo charged the deployed officers and men to work closely with other security agencies in the state to ensure effective security coverage and rapid response to any threat.

He disclosed that personnel for the special operation were drawn from various tactical and specialised units of the corps, including the Counter Terrorism Unit, Rapid Response Squad, and the Female Squad.

The NSCDC further revealed that surveillance and patrol operations around the Second Niger Bridge would be conducted round the clock, while other identified flashpoints and black spots across the state had also been adequately covered.

The command assured Muslim faithful and residents of adequate security at all designated Eid prayer grounds across Delta State.

Igbo also felicitated with Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urged residents to remain law-abiding and security conscious throughout the festive season.
