Command spokesperson DSC Abubakar Rabiu Muti stated yesterday that the incident occurred about a decade ago, and its current rehash is a malicious setup intended to damage the Corps’ reputation.
He clarified that the officer in question had been acquitted by a court of competent jurisdiction, with a subsisting judgment and order clearing him of any wrongdoing. Muti noted that this legal vindication confirmed the baselessness of the allegations.
He said: “The judiciary has conclusively addressed the matter with a court judgement and order. The High Court of Justice, Niger State of Nigeria, in Suit No. MN/MTB/CR/60/14, on July 8, 2015, acquitted the officer, ASC II Idris Saidu of NSCDC, Niger State. The public should, therefore, disregard the recycled false allegations.”
