TheOgun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, has urged police officers to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication in the discharge of their duties.

Ojajuni gave the charge during his ongoing statewide familiarisation tour to the Ifo Area Command, an initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots security, enhancing community policing and building public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, stronger community partnerships and improved public safety.

The tour featured engagements with traditional rulers, local government officials, sister security agencies, community leaders and police personnel to enhance operational synergy and sustain peace across the area.

It began with a visit to the palace of the Olunla Agbodere Kinni and Olu of Itori, HRM Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, who received the commissioner alongside members of his Chiefs-in-Council.

The monarch commended Ojajuni’s leadership, noting that his administration has built on the achievements of his predecessors to ensure the protection of lives and property, enabling residents to live without fear.

Speaking at the palace, Ojajuni thanked the royal father for his unwavering support for police officers serving in the area.

He highlighted the successes of Operation Kosaye and assured the traditional institution that the command would sustain its proactive, intelligence-driven policing strategy.

He also appealed for continued royal support in providing timely local intelligence to prevent crime.

The commissioner later visited the palace of the Olorile of Orile Ifo, HRM Oba Abdul Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, where he was warmly received by the monarch and members of his council.

Ojajuni appreciated the traditional ruler and his chiefs for their longstanding support for the Nigeria Police Force.

He stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between the police and local communities, highlighting the impact of Operation Kosaye in improving security across the area.

In his response, the monarch humorously described the visit as an “August visit in July” and praised the commissioner for his proactive leadership and strategic approach to policing.

He reaffirmed the commitment of his domain to supporting the police and other security agencies in maintaining law and order and promoting economic growth in the Ifo axis.

The familiarisation tour ended at the Ifo Area Command headquarters, where the commissioner was received by the Area Commander, ACP Williams Oluwaseyi, alongside officers and men of the command.

Among those present at the stakeholders’ meeting were the Executive Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Idris Kusimo; the Ogun state Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Abdullah Lawal; traditional and community leaders; and representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), So-Safe Corps, Forest Guards and the Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board.

Addressing the gathering, Ojajuni thanked stakeholders for the warm reception and commended the local government for its consistent support in securing communities within the council area.

He also praised the level of cooperation among security agencies, noting that despite the size of Ifo, security challenges have continued to be effectively tackled through collaboration between security agencies and community stakeholders.

Highlighting the achievements of Operation Kosaye, the commissioner declared that Ogun State would remain hostile to criminal elements, stressing that the command would continue to deny criminals any safe haven within the state and along its borders.

He further emphasised that security is a collective responsibility and called for stronger police-community collaboration to sustain peace and security.

During the meeting, Ojajuni introduced stakeholders to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) following a sensitisation session by the state coordinator, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi.

He described the initiative as the Nigeria Police Force’s flagship non-kinetic crime prevention programme.

The commissioner also encouraged residents to continue using the Gateway Shield digital platform to report suspicious activities promptly, assuring them that all credible information would be treated professionally and acted upon without delay.

Addressing officers and men of the Ifo Area Command, Ojajuni urged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the Nigeria Police Force by maintaining the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and commitment to duty.

Responding on behalf of the community, the Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Idris Kusimo, commended the commissioner for the operational successes recorded since assuming office.

He also appreciated the peace currently enjoyed in the area and pledged the local government’s continued support for the police.

Ojajuni concluded by reaffirming the Ogun State Police Command’s commitment to strengthening intelligence-led policing, deepening community partnerships and protecting lives, property and investments through effective and professional policing across the state.
