Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Adam Muhammed in connection with the alleged theft of a motorcycle and a generator in Itori in Ewekoro Local Council of the State.

The suspect was arrested on Sunday at about 7:30 a.m. in Itori, following a report by a motorist travelling along the road.

The motorist reportedly sighted an unregistered tricycle carrying a grey Haojue Lady motorcycle and a Firman generator at Onigbedu, Itori, with two passengers on board.

The motorist, suspecting that the items might have been stolen, promptly alerted the police while trailing the tricycle to Complex Junction, Itori, towards Papalanto.

Spokesperson of the Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday.

Babaseyi said that upon receiving the report operatives of the Ewekoro Division, swung into action and intercepted the tricycle.

“The two occupants attempted to flee, but one suspect, identified as Adam Muhammed, was apprehended after a hot chase, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplice.” he said.

Babaseyi said preliminary investigation has linked the recovered motorcycle and generator to a reported theft in Itori.

He said that suspect remains in custody as detectives intensify investigations to establish the full circumstances of the incident and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their prompt and timely response.

Ojajuni said that timely intelligence and effective police action remain vital to preventing crime and safeguarding property.

He also praised the vigilance and civic responsibility of the member of the public whose alert enabled the police to intervene.

The CP reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain proactive patrols, respond promptly to credible intelligence and deny criminal elements the opportunity to operate freely in Ogun State.

He charged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities, stressing that a timely report can make the difference between a successful crime and its prevention.
