Ogun strike: Labour leader hails members for full compliance

The State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Hameed Ademola-Benco, has reiterated that the ongoing strike in Ogun State is a total shutdown.

Speaking against the backdrop of the union strike in the state, Ademola-Benco disclosed that organised labour is tired of empty promises from the top echelon of government, stressing that the workers want to discuss the issues with the governor himself, who is said to understand the consequences of the strike and can get the workers out of the present predicament.

He stated that the strike has taken effect and cuts across public and core services, saying that the indefinite strike will last until the government does the needful on the matter.

“We are not the ones to reach out to them; they are the ones to do so. We are fed up with empty promises from government representatives over the years. We need to sit down with the governor and sort things out amicably,” he said.

He noted that the strike is premised on four cardinal issues, which include the contributory pension scheme, outstanding accrued allowances, and readjustment of the new minimum age.

He commended organised labour for the total compliance with the strike, urging members to stay resolute in the face of the challenge.
