The Chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos, Olusegun Odunmbaku, has rendered account of stewardship of his administration since assumption of office in 2021.
Stating that he has embarked on series of empowerment and numerous skill acquisitions for the youths, women, widows, elderly and people living with disabilities (PLWD).
He said that no fewer than 78 Youths have been trained in the areas of UI/UX, Data Analysis and Digital Marketing.
He also said that 60 youths were trained on waste-to-wealth creation in collaboration with Rotary Club, Gbagada and Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA). He added that about 36 youths have been inducted on Agricultural training programme in piggery, fishery, crop production, cattle, sheep, goat production and rearing.
According to him, a three-month mega training on skills acquisition (makeup, Tye & dye and soap making), was organized for 250 residents
He added that no fewer than 1000 women and youths received Sewing Machines, Make Up Kits, Automobile Repair Tools and Blending Machines.
Odunmbaku said the council also partnered with SPEED UP LAGOS on vocational skills acquisition at Sogunro Vocational Center to train over 1,300 women and youths in various skills. The partnership of the council with KENNOL on the training of youth in mechanical, electrical and plumbing works including the provisions of working tools needed were not left out of his achievement.
He explained that the LCDA had a digital training on 21st Century skills for 70 staffs of the council, a technical training for youths on partnership with ETL Engineering services and three-day training on Employability skills and career coaching for 200 unemployed youths.
The council boss appreciated the cooperation of Thrive Microfinance Bank in partnering with the council on the N20 million interest-free loan and startup grant for small and medium scale business across the council.
While highlighting his achievements in infrastructural and social sectors over the past three years.
Odunmbaku said he constructed over nine roads and drainages across all wards in the council.
In addition, the council boss said has completed the LSDPC Community Hall and renovated area office in Ogba
According to him, the ongoing office complex at the council secretariat has reached 90 per cent completion.
Odunmbaku said the council has donated five patrol vans to Ojodu, Ogba, Alausa, and Pen Cinema police stations and the Task force unit in Ojodu.
He noted that in the area of social development, the council organized a zero hunger food relief programme, benefitting 5,500 individuals through the Ojodu food Bank.
The initiative offered food items at subsidized rates to community members.
According to him, over 2500 residents have benefited from the programme.
He mentioned the distribution of 10kg food combos to 600 staff of the council and 1,500 uniform officers and public works employees.
He announced that the 14 minibuses procured to ease the impact of fuel subsidy removal on residents, has transported over 1,078,000 school children and residents free of charge from August 2023 till date.
