The management of Okomu Oil Palm Company Ltd in the Okomu community of Edo State has donated relief materials to victims of the armed attacks that occurred in the area about three months ago, which caused deaths and destruction of properties and sources of livelihood.

Presenting the materials, which comprise cartons of noodles and bags of beans and garri to Bekewei Seifiyebogha, the councillor representing Siluko Ward in Ovia South West Local Council, the Communication Officer of Okomu Oil Palm Company, Fidelis Olise, noted that not everyone in the community is a miscreant or hoodlum.

“So, for innocent people, we want to show our little support to them. That was what informed our decision to distribute these items to the victims. “Hopefully, we will be able to do more as time goes on. My company has asked me to bring these to the community today.

“We brought these because they are the staple foods the people eat daily. This explains why I am here today.

“I am handing them over to you on behalf of our company for distribution to the people affected.” Olise said Okomu Oil Palm Company did not have a credible census figure to work with but only did its best to mitigate the suffering the people were going through.

Also, the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) of the company, Robinson Oroupa, assured that the company’s management is desirous of doing its best to mitigate the suffering of the people and will make interventions from time to time.

Responding, Seifiyebogha thanked the company for showing love and empathy to the community’s people.
